William Ernest (Bill) Spainhour, Sr., 108, of Rt.3, Box 62, Spainhour Rd., died Thursday, February 13, 1997, at his home after a lengthy confinement.
He was born November 24, 1888 in Stokes County to John Henry and Martha Moser Spainhour. He was a member of Antioch United Methodist Church in Rural Hall and spent most of his life in the King community as a farmer. He was a devoted Dad and was loved by all who knew him. Dad loved his Lord and also liked to sing to his family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Antioch United Methodist Church with Rev. Johnny Bowen and Rev. Paul Spainhour officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glida Garner Spainhour, and two daughters, Gertrude Spainhour Kapp and Jackquline Spainhour, and a daughter-in-law, Betty (Joe) Spainhour. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Hazel (Alfred) Davis and Becky (Vernon) Wall, all of Tobaccoville and Augusta (Dick) Conrad and Frances (Alvin) Hill, all of King; six sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert (Jeanne) Spainhour, Robert (Faye) Spainhour, John (Rose) Spainhour, Kenneth (Dianne) Spainhour, all of King, W.E. Spainhour, Jr. and Clifton (Betty) Spainhour, all of Tobaccoville; 28 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren; seveal nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
